High Voltage Switchgear: Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas-insulated switchgear needs pressure tight sealing to carry conductor wires in and out. Standard standoff SF6 gas containment mountings, as well as special geometries for mounting conductor packages from single wire through 30-conductor cables are all part of the Douglas offering. As is standard for our parts, 100% quality control testing is conducted on all shipments, including both vacuum and pressure tests when necessary to ensure absolute gas containment.
Transformers: Dielectric oil provides both insulation and cooling for transformers, and Douglas feedthroughs ensure that the oil stays inside the transformer casing. Our conductor packages range from 3 #12 awg wires with 8" leads to 15 #10 awg with 300" leads. Testing is conducted at 100+ psi to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
Network Protectors: Today’s network protectors must keep their sensitive electronics safe. Even when enclosed in safes and installed in underground vaults, these vaults are prone to flooding. This flooding not only causes permanent damage the internal electronics it can also cause temporary loss of electrical performance due to failures of the atmospheric side connectors. Douglas Electrical solutions not only protect against the ingress of water moisture, they also protect the electrical integrity of the conductors penetrating the chamber.
Solutions
- 5,000V AC feedthru designed for use in switching equipment.
- Creation of a Brad Harrison hermetic NPT solution. Provides both waterproof connectorization and hermetic mounting.
- Current transformer leads thru wall of oil filled transformer. Douglas offers a standard line of 5, 10 and 15 wires, AWG #12 for CT outlets in a 1" NPT housing.
